MultiGet

Simple but effective download manager.

Sometimes when we need an application it is necessary for it to have thousands of features or to be world known, all we need is for it to accomplish the purpose it was developed for. When speaking about download managers, MultiGet is a clear example of this philosophy.

  MultiGet is a simple download manager that has nothing to envy of the best known download managers, and that at the same time doesn't standout due to the great amount of features that it offers. It just includes the necessary options: HTTP or FTP downloads, simultaneous downloads from one or more servers, capability to divide the file in various parts even while using various servers (or mirrors), possibility to reconnect if the server allows it.

  It includes a technology called P2SP that allows it to download parts of the same file from various servers to maximize the download capacity.

  To sum up, a perfect application due to its simplicity and its capability to cover a specific need using few system resources, the only pity is that it doesn't support the BitTorrent protocol.
